INDUSTRY
OUR CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY INITIATIVE
As early as 2018, an approach based on the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) of the Bayonne Ham industry appeared to us as a suitable response to current needs.
Therefore, the Bayonne Ham Consortium and all the operators in the industry, with the support of the Agricultural Cooperative of Nouvelle-Aquitaine and AFNOR (French Standardization Association), initiated an CSR certification process.
The Bayonne Ham PGI industry was the first national agri-food sector to implement an CSR approach at the industry level, involving all its member operators. Our CSR Industry approach is the result of collective work, enabling all our companies to be more proactive in terms of animal welfare, public health, environment, and local anchoring.
The Bayonne Ham Consortium, as the Defense and Management Organization, renewed its “Committed to CSR” level 3 Confirmed certification in November 2022 for an additional 3 years.
THE CSR FRAMEWORK
The CSR framework of the Bayonne Ham industry is an assessment framework for evaluating the maturity of the CSR approach of the member operators of the Bayonne Ham Consortium.
This CSR framework aims to support the member operators of the Bayonne Ham Consortium in their progressive development of CSR competency. It encourages them to approach the planning, deployment, and evaluation of each of their actions and projects differently, in a logic of continuous improvement of their CSR approach.
This CSR framework has been developed based on major international sustainable development frameworks, foremost among which are ISO 26000, an international standard on organizational social responsibility, and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.
The Bayonne Ham PGI Industry CSR Framework consists of 6 chapters:

These common values, uniting all the women and men in our industry for over 25 years of the PGI’s existence, guide our practices and reflect our determination to work together for the sustainable development of Bayonne Ham.
They have allowed Bayonne Ham to gain its reputation and trust, both nationally and internationally, and we are convinced that they will continue to do so in the years to come.
ENGAGEMENT OF MEMBER OPERATORS
Member operators commit to the Bayonne Ham PGI Industry’s CSR initiative. They are evaluated and certified by AFNOR Certification, according to the rating grid corresponding to our CSR Reference Framework.
This Bayonne Ham PGI Industry CSR initiative is recognized and supported by the Nouvelle-Aquitaine Regional Council, which we thank once again for the support it provides to our various initiatives.
