Croque-Monsieur au Cantal et jambon de Bayonne

Ingredients

  • 6 slices of sandwich bread
  • 3-4 slices of Bayonne ham
  • 1 egg
  • 2.8 oz (80g) of grated Cantal cheese + 0.5 oz (15g) for garnish
  • 2.1 fl oz (60g) of milk
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • Whole grain mustard
  • Pepper

Recipe

01 – 

Preheat the oven to 356°F (180°C).

02 – 

In a bowl, beat the egg, add the milk, the 80g of grated Cantal cheese, and the nutmeg.

03 – 

Spread some mustard on 3 slices of sandwich bread, then layer with Bayonne ham and the cheese mixture. Cover with the remaining slices of bread.

04 – 

Cut each croque into 4 squares, place them in an ovenproof dish, and sprinkle grated Cantal cheese on top.

05 – 

Bake for 8 minutes with convection heat and an additional 2 minutes under the grill.
